Thanks Guys.

Yes - may have to look into the brake levers at some point need some really skinny bar end levers that are metal so can be polished to be in tune with the originals. :chinscratch:

Lol I told u old chap! I know u are goin for originality but u have bora wheels and a pete matthews special so a pair of white orions will look awesome and finish this masterpiece off perfectly. I would love to ride a ten on this machine. It looks fast stood still.

Nob is correct in that the Modolo Kronos/Orion type levers wouldn't 'sit' on these bars correctly, they need the radius of the old Cinelli road bars

Fair point but the bar ends look awfully like standard width to the alloy bars of old. Looks like several hours with a file and emery cloth will be required

The bike of this era deserves a ring of that era

Only just found this thread. Going to my first tt's in the late 80's and seeing this bike and Andy Pegg on a mike burrows concoction really fuelled my love for the sport. What an amazing machine and very inspirational. Love it :)

Very nice Nob....I am impressed with the fit of the KCNC brake levers to the diameter of the bars.   Invariably others seem to be made with a casting diameter much bigger than the bars, I have spent hours turning of filing the castings down to remove a horrible step in section.

Are any of Alf's old bikes still around?

Alf's 49.24 bike is in bits at the Shorter Rochford shop in Finchley. I spoke to Alan Rochford on the phone about it and sadly that's how it is going to stay....

That really is a shame, Gary’s ‘30’ record bike is now complete; we know the significance of both bikes...
